Q: Am I eligible to attend one of these make-up ceremonies?

A: Alumni eligible to participate in this ceremony graduated in Vancouver in Spring 2020, Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 and in the Okanagan in Spring 2020 and Spring 2021.

Q: I’m not sure the university has my current email address. How do I update it?

A: Please visit https://alumni.ubc.ca/address-update/ to update your contact information.

Q: I haven’t received an email yet with further details. When should I expect it?

A: An announcement email was sent to alumni from these classes who we have an email address for the week of May 23. Phase 1 registration was sent the week of June 27. We will be contacting those who completed the Phase 1 registration in early September.

Please check your spam or junk folder first. If your contact information with UBC needs to be updated, please visit https://alumni.ubc.ca/address-update/. For those who did not complete the Phase 1 registration, you can sign up for the Standby List until 4:00 pm PT on Tuesday, September 27. We will contact those on the standby list in early October if space becomes available.

Otherwise, email special.ceremonies@ubc.ca. We are experiencing a high volume of emails and voicemails at the moment. We may be delayed in responding.

Q: I missed the deadline to register for the make-up ceremonies. What should I do?

A: The deadline to register for the in-person make-up graduation ceremonies in November 2022 was July 12, with an additional waitlist sign up until August 22. We have contacted Phase 1 registrants and those on the waitlist in early September. If you have missed these deadlines, you can sign up for the Standby List until 4:00 pm PT on Tuesday, September 27. We will contact those on the standby list in early October if space becomes available.

Q: When will the in-person make-up ceremonies take place?

A: The make-up ceremonies will take place during the following timeframes:

  • Okanagan: November 10, 2022
  • Vancouver: November 15, 16, 17, 18, 21, 22, 2022

Q: When will I know my specific ceremony date and time?

A: You will receive your specific ceremony date and time during Phase 2 registration in early September.

Q: Can I choose my ceremony date and time?

A: No. As in the case with our annual graduation ceremonies, you will be allocated to specific ceremonies in advance based on your degree.

Q. I am unable to make the November ceremony dates. Am I able to attend a future graduation ceremony?

A. No. The November 2022 in-person make-up ceremony is your opportunity to participate in an in-person UBC graduation ceremony. We are unable to provide the opportunity to attend a future ceremony in lieu of the make-up graduation ceremony.

Q. If I graduated from the Okanagan campus, can I attend the make-up ceremonies at the Vancouver campus?

A. No. If you have graduated with a degree at the Okanagan campus, you are invited to attend the ceremonies at the Okanagan campus. The same applies to graduates from the Vancouver campus.

Q: Will I receive my degree parchment or another degree parchment at this ceremony?

A: No. Parchments were issued in the year you graduated. If you have not yet received your parchment you can login to your SSC account to have it sent to you via courier or if you would like to pick it up in-person:

Q: Will I have the opportunity to wear regalia at this ceremony?

A: Yes! We will share more information about your academic regalia during Phase 2 registration.

Q: Will my family and friends have an opportunity to attend?

A: Yes! More information about guest registration and tickets will be shared during Phase 2 registration.

Q: Will the ceremonies be photographed and recorded?

A: Yes! The ceremonies will be photographed and recorded. You will be emailed further information on how to access the photography proofs and videos following the ceremony.

Q: Graduation portraits weren’t being offered when I graduated. Can I have them taken now?

A: Yes! Portrait services will be available during the day of your ceremony.
