Louis Nirenberg is a Canadian-born mathematician and one of the mathematical giants of the second half of the twentieth century. A world scientific leader, a prolific problem solver and a committed educator. He has contributed enormously to the development of the mathematical sciences throughout the world.

Julie Payette, O.C.

Julie Payette was Chief Astronaut with the Canadian Space Agency from 2000 to 2007. In 1992, the agency chose Payette from thousands of candidates to serve as one of four astronauts. Payette flew aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery in 1999, and aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour in 2009.
