Grad Class Legacy
–>
UBC students have a rich legacy of giving gifts and donations to the UBC Vancouver campus. Since 1919, there has been a tradition of gifting and/or dedicating a tree in honour of the graduating class.
The 2025 grad class tree is a Red Oak (Quercus rubra), located on the east side of Main Mall immediately north of University Boulevard. This is one of almost 100 Oak trees that serve as a memorial to graduating classes.
The purpose of these gifts to the University are twofold; a reflection of their time spent at UBC, and to enrich the lives of current and future UBC students.
For 2025, in addition to the traditional graduating class tree, this year’s graduating class gifts from the AMS are:
- The installation of printers in the Nest, providing students with a convenient, centralized location for their printing needs;
- Refurbishment of the Revolving Gardens, a permanent living-art feature on the first and second floors of the Nest;
- And a mural in the basement of the Life Building, celebrating the intersection of sustainability and active living.
